On Sunday, July 19th Zen Desire sat down with DJ Shmuel at WYXR 91.7 Memphis to discuss jazz, her upcoming show featuring some of Memphis’ best jazz musicians, her album, creative philosophy, and more. Watch Zen Desire Open for Tommy Wright III on Boiler Room
In October of 2025, Boiler Room came to Memphis all the way from the UK to capture a legendary night of live sets from some of Memphis’ most known unknown veteran hip hop acts, including the influential godfather of trap music: Tommy Wright III.
Having built a working relationship with Tommy after meeting him in 2024, Tommy gave me the opportunity to perform during his set at Royal Studios in South Memphis. “I need a little motivation from Zen Desire,” he says at the opening. “I gotchu, T.”
